Getting started

This is my first foray into the murky world of posting your thoughts onto the already cluttered interweb thing.
I could never really see the point of doing this as a kind of journal because my life is of no interest to anyone else and of little interest to me.
However, it occurred to me that I could use the blogging tools to post my opinion about various things. Well, why not?
I mean, if Jeremy Clarkson can then why can't I?
If you don't agree with my opinions you are of course free to say so in the comments below. Of course, I am equally free to delete your comments.

My interests are TV and films, PC gaming, politics, comedy and history. Therefore my blogs will tend to be about these things and not about sports, folk dancing, diesel locomotives or sewing patterns.

I like to think of myself as a rational, intelligent person despite all the evidence to the contrary and therefore my posts will try to reflect this, however contentious the content might be to some.
I am not a racist (with the exception of the human race, but being a member I feel I have some justification here), but I do despise lies, deceit, arrogance and corruption. Oh yes, and Big Cook Little Cook. If you have ever seen this programme you will know why.

I'd also better get the apologies out of the way now. I will not post anything here that is deliberately designed to cause offence, but it is mildly possible that members of certain groups will take offence anyway. Those groups are likely to be (in no particular order);
Religious fundamentalists, evangelists and "born again" types, corporate executives and managers, people who support the erosion of civil liberties, people who support imperialism, celebrities who are only famous for being famous, modern art lovers, people who don't know their own language, those in advertising and marketing and people within society who insist upon being selfish and anti-social.
